Case Study | Sennheiser - headphone comparator product displays
The Gold Award winning Sennheiser headphone comparator display was an interactive retail display stand that allowed customers to listen to 'on board' sound samples and compare the sound quality of the various noise cancelling head phones available.
This retail display stand was rolled out all over Europe, so all educational elements had to be either very simple or translatable to suit all markets.
Interaction was deemed key in influencing the buying decision for these premium headphones, to justify the purchase of these as a replacement to headphones given free with MP3 players and other portable devices. The interactive retail display stand therefore included a finger touch pad, which enabled shoppers to select a pair of headphones and listen to a number of sounds samples across different genres. This inevitably allowing Sennheiser to up sell customers through their full range varying from £30 to £300.
Ultimately, the more you spend on headphones, the better your music will sound. Having a testing centre allowed customers to compare and ultimately "try before you buy". So, the goal was to increase average sales price and unit sales further via an improved customer experience.
